From the Heart of the Church – Consecrated Life in Catholic Education

In a nation founded for the pursuit of religious freedom, today’s American youth are beset by social, political and institutional ideologies that reject God’s sovereignty over humanity and creation. The effect is devastating: The young are left with a lost sense of identity, disbelief in human dignity and the empty promise that injustice and alienation can be overcome through humanism. In this context, the Gospel message, which leads to truth, unity and joy, is paramount. Central to the Church’s mission of evangelization, Catholic schools throughout the Diocese of Lincoln (USA) communicate and witness to God’s merciful love and salvation offered through Jesus Christ. Drawing from particular yet synergistic charisms, four communities of women Religious serve children, youth and families through Catholic education. Among those served are the materially and spiritually poor, those with special learning and health needs, migrants, the disadvantaged and those who have lost hope.
