Good news! The United States Department of Agriculture has given a special waiver to help families during this time of COVID-19. Beginning on October 1, 2020 and continuing through December 31, 2020 (or until funds are depleted) St. James will offer all students a free hot lunch. Your children, as always, will have the option of bringing their own cold lunch to school, but hot lunches will be free for any St. James child. Your family does not have to qualify for the Free and Reduced Lunch Program in order to receive free lunches during this time period. Once again, unless there is an extension, this free lunch offer will end on December 31, 2020 or as soon as the government funds are exhausted. At that time, families will return to their regular payment program as on September 30, 2020.

Strategic Plan Open Forum Meeting: St. James Catholic School has been working on a Strategic Plan and we are starting the final phase of creating the specific projects that will ensure the successful implementation of the plan. There will be a meeting on Tuesday, September 22 at 6:30PM in the Parish Hall to review the process and to create an Implementation Team for each pillar of the Strategic Plan. The four Pillars of the Strategic Plan include Faith & Culture, Marketing & Communications, Academics & School Activities and Finance & Facilities. If you are interested in learning more about the final phase of the plan, please plan to join us! Parishioners and school families are encouraged to attend. If prefer to join via video, please email Eva Fujan, our Strategic Plan Consultant, to request the link and password at efujan@yahoo.com.

Meet Mrs. Tranmer!

Karla Tranmer has been teaching Pre-Kindergarten at St. James for 18 years. Many of you already know her but did you know....

She grew up in Leigh, Nebraska, a town of less than 500 people and graduated from Midland University with a B.A in Elementary Education and from UNK with my Masters in Early Childhood Education.

Mrs. Tranmer has two daughters - Morgan lives in Omaha and Bridget attends Wayne State College. Mrs. Tranmer and her husband have 2 dogs, 5 cats and lots of chickens!

When we asked Mrs. Tranmer what her favorite thing about St. James is, here's what she had to say;
"My favorite thing about St. James? Wow! There are a lot of those, but I think having the CK sisters as the principal and teachers makes our school extra special. I have enjoyed watching the students grow up through the years from the time they were in my room until they graduate."

We are so glad Mrs. Tranmer is part of our St. James family!
