Science Club

Last summer, Miss Morehead was selected as one of 20 Nebraska teachers to participate in a NASA teacher training, Nebraska Education Space Ambassadors (NESA). She came back this year full of ideas for science activities and decided to start a Science Club after school at St. James for 4th-6th graders. The Fall-Term Science Club had 14 members and met every Monday for 12 weeks. Each week the students engaged in a different activity or experiment related to NASA sciences. They created models of rockets, meteorites, craters, the Earth’s interior, volcanoes, and the solar system. The climax of the experience was a field trip to the Hyde Memorial Observatory in Lincoln to explore space through a telescope. The Spring-Term Science Club is a repeat of the first 12 weeks with new students.
